In keeping with Emily’s work on child poverty over the last 2 years, we wanted to raise money towards one of the many fantastic projects going on in the UK to end child poverty.
We have chosen to support Save the Children’s Families and Schools Together (FAST) project, which is a UN-endorsed programme where socially marginalised families take part in an eight-week curriculum to build relationships between parents, children and schools within the local community. During the sessions children and parents take part in activities designed to improve children’s outcomes and wellbeing. Each family also receives books and toys so that they can continue to support their child’s learning and development at home.
The intention is to break the cycle of poverty by giving disadvantaged children a fair chance to succeed at school and to get a well-paid job with prospects.
